Re: Companion 5.1 convert to stereo

Hi kahelag,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community!

When you say you are no longer able to play your game due to the sound settings being 5.1 rather than stereo, are these the sound settings in the game itself or on the computer that are set incorrectly?

If the speakers are using 5.1 in the in-game settings only, there will be a setting in that game that you can change, and it would be worth checking through the audio settings to find the option to choose between stereo and surround.

If your computer as a whole is trying to use 5.1 surround sound with the speakers, then this can be changed using the sound control panel. To access this setting follow these steps:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the Windows system tray that you can access by clicking the arrow icon in the taskbar.
  • Select the Sounds option. This will open the Sound Control Panel.
    • If you don’t see the Sounds option, click on Open sound settings.
    • Scroll down and click on Sound Control Panel under Related Settings.
  • In the Sounds window, open the Playback tab.
  • Select the Companion speakers among the list of audio devices and make sure they are set as the default.
  • Click on the Configure button.
  • In the Speaker Setup window, choose stereo from the Audio Channels list.
  • Click Next to proceed and complete the configuration by following the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps, let me know!

Re: Companion 5.1 convert to stereo

hi and thanks for the info.  Everything you mention I've done.  I play World of Warships and this the only game that has this problem.  WG mention to try stereo, my laptop is stereo and it does work in the game. Thanks

Smile and have a nice day
