Compatibility Question

I own a pair of bose companion multimedia 5 speakers. They connect to my old desktop computer through a usb cable. Just bought a new desktop, a dell xps 8930. Will my old bose speakers connect to my new desktop with the old usb cable? Do I need new speakers?

Re: Compatibility Question

Hi there @AlaJam and thanks for reaching out!

Congratulations on your new desktop! I'd be happy to advise you here.

We generally mark the minimum requirements for the Companion 5 speakers as below:

- 1 GHz, minimum, Pentium processor or equivalent.

- 256 MB RAM minimum.

- At least 1 USB 2.0 port.

- Microsoft Windows® XP or newer, Mac OS® X 10.4.6.

- A compatible 5.1 Surround Sound decoder residing on your computer.

So this should still be compatible with your new computer!

Even if this is not the case, you should still be able to connect via the AUX cable to the Control Pod.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any further questions!

Re: Compatibility Question

They should work fine.
