Finding compatible Bose speakers

Have a vintage (1980s) MCS 3223 stereo receiver, 23 watts/ch with connections for 8 ohm speakers.  Is there any past or present Bose speaker that would be compatible?  Must the receiver watts exceed the speakers'?  Thx so much!

Hi john_adam,

Welcome to the Community, thanks for joining us!

When looking at what speakers will work with your receiver, you want to make sure the power and resistance per channel of your receiver is within the specifications of the speakers. As your receiver can put out 23 watts per channel at 8 ohms, the minimum power the speaker can handle must be at least 23 watts per channel and the resistance can't be higher than 8 ohms.

We do have a few speakers that you could use with your receiver, depending on what kind of speaker you are looking for! If you want "bookshelf" speakers, you would want to look at either our 201s or 301s for this. If you wanted to use in-wall or ceiling speakers you could look at our Virtually Invisible 791s or Virtually Invisible 891s. All of these speakers will be compatible with your receiver as they work with as low as 10 watts per channel at up to 8 ohms.
