Re: bose companion 5 no green light, no sound.

Hi Saneylabs,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Bose Community. I am deeply sorry to hear that you are having this issue and would love to assist you further.

The amber LED means that the system is muted and the speakers are silent, this happens when there is no audio from the source. I would highly recommend that you perform a reset on the system via:

  • Turn off the device connected to the system
  • Unplug the power cord of the system from the power outlet. Wait 30 seconds
  • Reconnect the power cord
  • Retest the system

As well as connecting the companion to another USB port to ensure that this isn't causing any issues. Please also check to ensure that the volume is adjusted on both the PC and the Companion. The Volume can be adjusted on the Companion by turning the Volume Control Ring.

Please update me on the result of these steps.

Kind Regards,

Hector B - Community Support

Re: bose companion 5 no green light, no sound.

Hello Rksundar. Thanks for your post. Sorry to hear about your difficulties with the speakers. The control pod for the Companion 5 cannot be bypassed directly, and is required for general control and use of the overall system. It's disappointing to hear that the steps outlined by Hector have not yet resolved your issue. Have you also tried reconnecting the cable that plugs directly between the control pod and the bass module for the system?

An orange status LED indicates that the system is muted. The only way to unmute this is by tapping the touchpad on the top of the pod. Should this button remain non-functioning, there may be a hardware fault. Should this be the case, please reach out to Bose product support in your region directly to explore service options for your speaker. Click HERE, select your country, and use the "Contact us" button at the bottom of the page.
