I have noticed recently some movies and more recently a couple documentaries presented at the Apple Developers Conference are presented with very big black bars on the top and bottom of my tv screen. The active part of the image is crystal clear and expansive. This harkens back to the days of black bars on the old CRT squareish tvs. Understanding very little about aspect ratio, I have never been bothered by the black bars . I just accepted the image was always better that way.
Could this be we are going to be looking at new TVs that are even more rectangular to fit 4K productions better. Something along the lines of 80in wide by 20in high. Pardon my aspect ratio math.
I have always found the aspect ratio topic a little baffling but at least the picture images get better and better.
