iPhone 6s upgraded to iOS 12.3 - now Wave III with Bose Link Bluetooth adapter won't connect

I had to update my iPhone to 12.3, and now my Wave III won't connect. Both just remain on "Connecting", with the Bose never appearing on the phone as an option.  I've tried restarting both, resetting the phone Network Settings.  No joy. Anyone have any success? I expect it's likely the phone but don't know if there's a process or any firmware update to the Bose that might help?
