Hearphones at the dentist

Hope springs eternal and I'm still in the phase where armed with a hammer; all my problems look like nails.

I'm studying so when the dentist scheduled a two-hour session in the chair; I loaded a couple of lectures onto a device. I hoped that I could block out the noise and study. I planned to dial in a little bit of World Volume so I could hear instructions from the dentist.

That was wishful thinking. Everything was working well until the dentist fired up the drill.

The high pitched shriek of the pierced through the peace of Acoustic Noise Cancelling. The drill was so loud that it drowned out the lecture. The earbuds seemed to trap the sound in my head and make it even louder.

Yes, I was able to use the World Volume to hear instructions, but overall the experience was better when I took the earbuds out.

Re: Hearphones at the dentist

Did you try reducing World Volume to a minimum?

Re: Hearphones at the dentist

Hi thersites,

Yes, I did turn off the World Volume.

Most of what I was hearing was through bone conduction. I don't think that any kind of Acoustic Noise Cancellation was going to help with that.
