Long cable why? (was Re: Function while charging (Feature Request) )

Folks,

There are many USB longer after-market cables.  I have even seen a few retrackable cables.

Is there any reason not use an after-market cable?

Hi sas2hear,

You wrote: "Is there any reason not to use an after market cable?"

Go ahead and use other cables.

I use longer cables all the time. I've got lots of devices that use the same type of cable. I use the cables and chargers interchangeably for all the devices.

Keep in mind, of course, that frying your Bose equipment with a bad 3rd-party cable or charger (never mind that most people can't tell the difference 2 seconds after unboxing) won't be covered under the Bose warranty.

This article is for USB-C, but the same principle certainly applies to all USB equipment: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/tldr/2016/11/8/13564460/usb-c-spec-apple-...

BTW ST, your reply got chopped off on the email I received.

Hi KilleenWizard,

Thanks for your expression of concern.

The Bose instructions for charging don't place any constraints on the cable or charger to be used except this:

CAUTION:
Use this product only with an agency-approved power supply that meets
local regulatory requirements (for example: UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).
