best sound for falling asleep?

I used by sleep buds for the first time last night and they were very effective at blocking noise. However, although I was very tired, I couldn't fall asleep and stay asleep. It was as if my brain couldn't turn off with the  sound. Anyone else have this problem? I played around with a few sounds and shower was most effective for blocking snoring, but after two hours I  had to take them out because my mind was racing and I was feeling anxiety. Will my brain need to acclimate to having these sounds in my ears all night? I usually fall asleep with the TV on, so I'm not a sleeper who needs silence. Maybe white noise is better (though it didn't block out noise as well).

Re: best sound for falling asleep?

I use the waterfall sound...cascade?  I had been sleeping with a fan for noise for several years until the sleep buds allowed me to turn it off.  To my ears, the cascade sounded closest to a fan.

I use "Circulate", but everyone has their own favorite.
