Is not on 700 only, is on Soundbar 500 also. LG TV OLED55B8PLA, HDMI Arc, Ethernet for both tv and soundbar. Appears on all sources (Live Tv, Netflix, XBox One S). Sorry for the double post. It was a delay between the moment of writing and that of appearing into the thread.

Same for me. Random, less than a second, drop of sound. Is almost un-noticeable. Soundbar 500 with subwoofer and surround speakers, on Ethernet (not Wi-Fi). Stable, static IP internet (300-500Mbps) TV is an LG OLED55B8PLA, HDMI ARC to soundbar. TV sound output is on "Auto" (not PCM). Appears from time to time, on all sources (Live TV, Netflix, XBox One S).

I also noticed this immediately after the FW 4.0.9, but the drop was so short that I presumed is in my imagination. Seems that was for real :(. Is less than a second and appears randomly. I cannot connect the drop with something special.

@NRC I noticed same thing; spotify to airplay with no problem but airplay back to spotify not working and keep blocking. And the song keep playing on the iPhone Control Centre, even is shows that is on spotify. The only solution I found is to manually stop the playback of the track in iPhone Control Centre. In that moment the track start to play normally in spotify. Is possible that this is a phone problem and not a Bose one.

@afcchris 1. Have you tried the manual update? 2. Have you tried another HDMI cable? 3. When HDMI Arc is selected as output, you shouldn't hear TV internal speakers. 4. The same is when you pair the soundbar with the TV on bluetooth and select, on TV, bluetooth as output. Internal speakers of the TV should stop. 5. The only option of internal speakers+soundbar is on optical connection. At least, this is what happens on my LG OLED TV. By yhe way, what is your TV? Are you on its last FW?

Ha, ha, in few hours. At my home, everybody, except me, sleeps, so I just tested in low volume and the crack was gone. If I'll test at a normal volume I will be, probably, kicked out :). All I can say is that I switched from PCM to Auto (on TV) and is far better on Auto, and no crackling.

Is probably (not certain) related to the local hour. When I checked at 2:05 (local), I was on 4.0.8; when I re-checked at 2:30, the 4.0.9 was in place. I did nothing during this time, just checked with the moblie Bose Music.

OK guys, here are the news: My local time is now 3:20 The Soundbar 500 performed the automatic update and now I am on FW 4.0.9 Did a few quick tests (on 2 Netflix passges that I know the crackling was obvious) and the good news is that the crackling seems to be gone. However, due to the hour of the night, these tests were quick, short and at very low volume because I cannot wake my entire family. Hope that tommororw, in normal testing conditions, I will not change my impression :). Also, after the update, I did a full restart of the soundbar because the HDMI CEC was not working. It kept shutting down the TV.

Let's see first if the new FW solves the problem and how. Hope they didn't compromise or mess something else. After last 2 weeks problems and considering that my system is brand new, is hard to me to be very optimistic, so I expect BOSE to convince me I am wrong :).

I perfectly agree with all above, but, in the meantime, I have to accept this automatical update because my soundbar (brand new) is broken and I have no choice but to try the new FW and hope it works. Also, the possibility of a FW rollback is excelent but, for the 4.0.8 is wasn't an option for Bose, as long as this FW also launched Google Assistant, so going back included also the loss of this facility. Personally I don't give a penny on Google Assistant (I didn't bought the system for Alexa or Google), but I may assume that for Bose this was a major change, and even an achievement. Maybe this is also a possible excuse for the rush of launching a troubled FW and, all we can do is to expect that Bose learned from this. Now, all I expect (and pray) is that the problem is solved by the new FW (4.0.9) and after that we will see. Somebody, in another topic, said that after a succesfull update, he will disconnect the soundbar from Internet and thus block future auto updates. I fully support the idea of a voluntary update, performed at a moment that I am deciding when but, for the moment, let's see if the new FW is succesfull and, after, we have time to debate.

Leave it as much as it needs. The first impression is that the soundbar update is blocked. My first update took more than 1 hour (close to 2) and I was on Ethernet. If is on Wi-Fi, it may take longer. First will stay and do nothing. Than the led start to blink, in a sequence described in the manual. Do not touch anything and do not unplug it. Just leave it alone. You can start using it only when Bose Music App shows update completed.

VPN is a solution, unfortunately just a partial one. Why, because you have to be also in a region were Google Assistant is downloadable. With NordVPN, both Alexa and Google Assistant appeared in Bose Music as Voice Assistants, but when I try to download Google Assistant, the AppStore sais that is not available in my region :(. And Apple AppStore is way difficult to foolish. With Alexa, things are OK, but only if you already have the Prime account.

Dear Vicky, Thanks for the post but, unfortunately, is nothing new here. You confirm that Bose knows about the issue (this we allready know) and that there will be an update (this we already hope for). No time estimation, no changes involved, nothing. If this is what Bose considers as a customer support, than, sorry, nothing personal, but is just a sad joke. Consider the frustration of having not a premium sound system but a hugely expensive piece of furniture and, mostly, that most of us, just boght it in recent days, so the degree of dissapointment is severe. Buying a new system that distort almost out of the box is nothing but an invitation to consider the competition. Sorry. P.S. Also, do something with your servers that host this forums. My internet connection is a premium one but this pages are loading like you are in "dial up" internet ages.

Not just worthless, is troublemaking. Another interesting fact is that on reddit somebody said that was a FW update 22 hours ago and crack dissappeared. Anybody here knows something? My FW is the old one and crack is there :(.

We are now in the second week and this problem in not solved, althought is reported worldwide. BOSE claims that FW rollback is impossible because of new Google assistant into last FW. But, most of us, bought this product not for Google or Alexa (wich are not available anyway in most regions), we bought it for what BOSE always did best: the sound. And now, the sound is ruined. Moreover, this new "improvement" (Google) is available only in US, So, now, we are here: US customers with Google assistant and broken sound and non-US customers with no sound and no Google. So, except for some US customers, all the others are not losing anything by rolling back the FW. Now we just have broken sound devices, but with a "not available in our regions" Google assistant :(. In this situation, I think that is reasonable that BOSE will give, to those who want, the possibility to perform a manual rollback, to the previous FW that was OK. As long as I dont have Alexa and Google, why should I keep this broken FW? Or a worldwide rollback with the possibility of a manual update for those who desperately want Google but with the price of a ruined sound.

@Dieter1993 A couple of weeks? Well, you are generous . Normally, this should be solved in days. If not by a correction, at least by a (even temporary) FW rollback. But now is weekend, so, even the line of complains is growing fast, I doubt anybody from BOSE will do something. Let's hope they won't start again with the usual questions and advices: reboot the system, what is yor tv output, etc. Because, in fact, things are crystal clear: recent FW update, same (identical) problem worldwide, from Argentina to US and from Asia to Europe. Too many coincidences. So, BOSE, you don't need rocket science. Just get a 500/700 soundbar (I bet you can find one), connect it with the supplied cable to HDMI Arc of any decent TV and open Netflix 5.1 (preferable music). I rest my case.
