They've done an RMA and want to replace it, but it's pretty obvious if you read through these forums that there's an inherent problem with the device, and that mine probably aren't faulty. Have the exact same problem with my Nokia 8 running Android Oreo 8.1. Not a Microsoft problem. I contacted support, they want to replace my set, I replied and asked why bother? And pointed them to this thread.

These things are driving me nuts! one or both earphones dropping in and out, scratch audio quality, and everytime I take them out of the case, I have to disable and re-enable the Bluetooth Media protocol setting before it will play audio. I contacted support, the first thing they did was suggest unpairing and pairing and updating firmware and then try calling support. I called support and hung up after being on hold for 15 minutes. So replied to their email, the second thing they ask for is the serial number of the earbuds (the case serial number isn't enough, apparently) to verify the warranty status. The product's been out for less than 12 months, it's not possible to have one that's not under warranty. Really hope a firmware update fixes issues soon, but I don't have high hopes for these things at the moment.

Please note I don't work for Bose so YMMV, however, rolling back to firmware version 1.3.2 seems to have fixed a couple of my bigger Bluetooth issues. ( A D V <up> <down> in order on the BTU page to enable firmware rollback)

I've had a range a Bluetooth issues with the Soundsport Free. Ended up rolling back firmware to 1.3.2 which solved a lot of my issues.

Howdy, I have a Nokia 8 running Android 8.1 Oreo. Since updating from 8.0 -> 8.1, I've come across a persistent problem with Bluetooth headphones. When I power on my headphones, it appears to connect as per normal. However, when I then go into a media app (I tend to listen to Google Play Music and Pocket Casts) and hit play, it appears to play for a split second and then pause again. If I hit play again, it plays through the phone speaker. Work around for this is to disconnect the Bluetooth headphones and reconnect, or disable and reenable Bluetooth on the phone. It's then fine until the next time I power off and back on the headphones. This is consistent on my QC35-II and Soundsport Free. I don't really have any non Bose Bluetooth devices to test it on. I've done some Googling around to try and find a fix, but none of the results list my exact problem, or none of the fixes work. Pretty keen to find a fix to this, it's driving me nuts. I've also done a Factory Reset on my phone and cleared pair devices memory on my Bose products, but not getting anywhere. I know this may not be a Bose specific forum, but this like my best chance at finding a fix.

Come on now. Telling people to log a support call when there's clearly a widespread problem with them is pretty unhelpful. Adding my frustration to this thread. Newly restored Nokia 8 running Oreo 8.1 with latest SS Free firmware. Don't give me this body interference crap either. I get it with my phone 10cm in front of my face. My head might create interference between the two buds while they're in my ears but there's not much I can do about that is there. Await your (generic, sub-par) response Bose. When I was an iPhone user AirPods worked perfectly.

Nokia's reponse: Hi Angus, Thank you for your patience, our tech support team has looked into the issue regarding Google Assistant on Bose QC35 II, and have confirmed that this is related to the Android 8.0 OS, with a fix to be provided by Google. It doesn't matter if/when/how it was working, what matters is it works. Google might have changed something but Bose advertised their product to work and are expected to provide updates to their product (for a reasonable amount of time of course) to ensure compatibility to Google's products. If it's a problem with Google's products the onus is on Bose to work with Google to resolve. If it was an unadvertised feature that just happened to work with it, then sure, Bose could just wipe their hands clean.

Because they've advertised and released a product with Google Assistant functionality. There is an onus on them to work with Google to get the functionality working.
