In order not to lose the big picture: 1. This dicussion thread (forum) would not have to exist had Bose not released a messed-up firmware in Mid May 2. Roll-back to previous - working firmware is not allowed by Bose (with no explanation why) 3. None of the wifi routers are at fault - vast majority of them worked super fine before May 4. Logs collection by Community members to assist with troubleshooting  has not brought any fruit so far - at least Bose did not convince anyone here yet. 5. This is riduculous... Number of replies and views of this topic within this forum speak for itself - Play all is the most discussed issue here.   If one would extrapolate and consider that on average only 5-7% of users who are somewhat affected by a given problem go online and reach out for help - the rest is still affected, but is not voicing their concerns online - the total would make up for a large number of users who if using the wifi option (BT seems to be working relatively fine) should get much better treatment from a big brand and premium company such as Bose. Just copy & pasting info from the product specification: (S.... P 3)   "Connects to your home Wi-Fi network with any 802.11 b/g/n router. 802.11n only network configurations are not supported—you can either change the router settings to 802.11 b/g/n or connect a Sonos product to your router"   Bottom line is that Play all/Group all (by a different brand) just works... Sure, no worries @Mattyboy - will hang around this forum just to see from statistical point of view how long it takes for Bose engineering teams to get their act together. Amazon.de fully accepted my reasons for returning the speakers to them and have issued already a full refund for the 3 speakers I bought 4 months ago.   As far as for my Sonos experience (my new speakers will arrive on Mon/Tue next week) a few noteworthy facts I have already noticed:   - You can pair up 32 speakers to the same wifi network vs. max 4 for Bose (correct me if I am wrong) - Sonos multiroom speakers (Play 1, 3 and 5) work only in 2,4GHz wifi spectrum vs. Bose which uses both 2,4 and 5Gig - with 2,4GHz being an "older", but well tested and know wifi spectrum it seems like Sonos went with a sure shot and is not therefore exposed to similar issues which I believe are behind the Play all mess - Sonos has a Beta tester option to enrol should one (just like me) be interested in testing almost final version of software vs. no such option on Bose side, they seem to alfa/beta test on live systems:( - Overall maturity of iOS and Mac OS apps that I preloaded on my devices  and laptop seems to be more advanced vs. the SoundTouch apps   Will keep you up to date once I get my speakers to share my unboxing and set-up experience.   Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you folks who can't send your speakers back to Bose - hope they sort it out before the lose the last few loyal customers. Enough is enough. Sorry Bose - today I have shipped my 3 ST's back to Amazon, will receive refund and have already placed new order for 2 Sonos play 1 and 1 Sonos Play 3. Btw Sonos supports little things like sleep timer - something which one needs to use a 3rd party app for instead of Bose natively delivering the simple feature as part of the mobile app...   After two months of waiting my patience level hit the ground today - I would have hoped that after 8 weeks of sharing logs with Bose there would a "beta" version of firmware available for testing instead of asking us to test the speakers on completely unsecured wifi network!!! After two months it is more than clear that the Play all fw bug is obvious and affecting majority of those who use the feature and "upgraded" their systems to 19.0.5 fw version. Our wifi routers are NOT at fault. At this moment I stop pouting, will give Bose 30 more days to fix this mess and play the game just the way as they do: I am lucky as my 3 ST's are still covered by Amazon.de's 2 year warranty - if there is no fix by 15. Aug'18 - I am done with Bose and I am sending all 3 speakers back and will go with Sonos instead. You get what you give Bose and being told to "stay tuned and follow Community updates" will interest me for more month, after that Bose lost another customer and gained a new brand detractor. The speakers still behave erratically based on your experience too:( One would say - they behave in an undeterminisic way. We always need to go back to the same question again and again: was this happening before May 15? 99% of the answers would be no, therefore it is Bose’s job to fix the 19.0.5 firmware mess. This week marks 2 months since the trouble has started and there is info from Bose about when to expect a fix:( Will give Bose 4 more weeks to resolve the issue, if not - I am returning my speakers to Amazon and going with Sonos instead. Same here. Haven’t added any other IP devices to my wifi network for months and all ST speakers worked fine until mid May. Router is not the root cause of the Play all fw issue. ... View more

I am glad that this ad hoc solution worked for you, but before the mid May fw mess it was not ncessary to call any Bose tech support and have the wifi routers configured... This is the problem and Bose needs to address it systematically. Things work fine, an untested/messy fw gets released and we all are affected now. Someone here in previous threads asked about why don't they roll-back the pre-19.0.5 version of firmware - I had asked this Brandon_m - the Community moderetaor and the answer from Bose was NO, without giving any reason. In my opinion this is sickening because literally every single systems that gets updated with 19.0.5 fw versions is extremely likely to become a brick with Play all not working correctly anymore which is only making things worse. So the way back to previous (working) fw version is rejected by Bose and on the way forward we are being told to be patient and wait for new fw release. I am wondering how long we'll have to wait as it's been more than 6 weeks now since I shared first logs from my 3 speakers with Bose engineering team.   ... View more

Why on earth do we have to go through this sophisticated AP fine tuning, if the Play all wroked just fine before 19.0.5 fw update without touching our wifi routers?   You and I could play and fiddle with our APs settings, but with all the respect to other affected folks here in this forum - asking them to do what has worked for you (and you are right, as that is the direction to fix the bug manually) is non-sense. It’s a buggy firmware issue that was released around May 15. The speakers from the hardware point of view are fine as they had worked without any problems long time before this corrupted firmware turned them into bricks last month. So it comes down to how fast can Bose get their act together and release a well tested and working firmware update that will enable Play all again. ... View more

As as long as our systems are running 19.0.5 fw version there is no permanent fix for the Play all bug. In order not get frustrated more and aggrevate the situation I have turned off two other speakers, use just one and I wait for Bose to come up with a fix. Sorry to say it, but what a lame response by Bose UK! Apperently they have no clue about what is going on here. The Play all feature worked FINE for dual band wifi routers until Mid May 2018  for months and with 19.0.5 firmware release it stopped. +1 for all you wrote in your post (at)mcpson!   Every company can get through some rough time, but it should not last longer than one would be willing to tolerate from a brand such as Bose. Agile development should allow (usually) for 4-5 weeks release cycle, having spotted this issue for the first time around May 15 it is now high time that they deliver a fix for Play all bug, otherwise Bose opens room for other speculations such as being hacked and not having full control over what they deliver as wireless speakers by their nature are internet devices likely to be attcked by hackers which is I believe Bose's responsibilty to protect. (at) Brandon_m: I have just found out how to collect logs from Mac OS desktop. It did not surprise me that literally while collecting the logs the speakers were cutting in & out so you should have a fresh set of evidence that things are not ok.
