I have one of those pillows. Doesn’t work for the issue for me. The slightest pressure and they go off. The pillow with the ear holes is just too hard and not comfortable for me and unless I wake up each time I turn over so that my ear is exactly over the hole, it doesn’t work either.  None of us should have to be seeking solutions for a design flaw. Bose needs to fix it.    The original design from the original inventors was perfect. Their main issue was that the battery only lasted for 4 hours. Bose bought them and increased battery life but totally changed the design and here we are with this issue. If they kept the original design with longer battery life, that would be perfect.  ... Exchanging them most likely won’t work. The issue happens to many people and withboth buds. If it only happens with a single Bud, we might assume that one is defective but for everyone it happens with both meaning it is a design flaw.  ... View more

I have to strongly disagree. There is no fluid in the inner ear that would cause sound to go off with mild pressure on an earbud. I’ve used many other sound masking in ear canal buds over the past 10 years with no issue like this. If it were an inner ear issue, it would have happened then too. I only bought these because they stopped making the components required for the ones I really liked. Also, the inner ear is separated from the canal so it doesn’t make sense that fluid in the inner ear affects the bud in the canal. The moderator’s suggestions are standard replies and do not work. This isn’t a blockage issue or reset, or tip, or update issue. This is a clear cut design flaw. It happened to me right out of the box. I used different tips, the buds are clean, I am fully updated and reset and there is no change. Someone needs to get our message to someone who can address the design flaw issue since this is unacceptable.    Bose probably won’t bother with it since it is far more expensive for them to do compared to them issuing people little pads to prevent the squeaking (different problem). That’s a cheap fix, this won’t be. So in the meantime we are told to try a different tip, clean them, or update or?  Not helpful!!!   ... View more

Just a small one that will fit snuggly around the center. Maybe 4mm or so. But they don’t work perfectly so Bose needs to fix the issue. =) ... View more

Can you tell me what the replacement tip you are using looks like or a link to where I can find them? You said it affects the sound quality, but does it quell the volume as well?  It is so weird that the jump ring only works on one side. I need to figure out how to make it work on the other as well but it isn't as good a solution as I had originally hoped. Better yet, Bose needs to fix this issue. ... View more

HI, No, I haven't felt anything with the jump rings. They may need adjusting so that you can get them just right so they keep the audio hole open, so you may have to play with it a little. If it is too big, it can slip down. Make sure it is up as close to the audio hole as possible. ... View more

Darryl, Bose bought out Hush and I had the same issue with Hush. They died quickly, although were very comfortable and the sound didn't go off when on my side. I also had SoundOff which I hated. Before that I had NuSound which had a very annoying tone. The best I have had to date was SoundMaskers (no longer made) which were very comfortable and had great sound quality. However, they required replacement batteries about every 4 days and replacement foam ear tips and that got quite expensive, but they are still going strong after 12 years. I have stocked up on the foam ear tips they no longer sell. The jump rings I put on my Bose sleepbuds needed adjusting a couple of times but last night they seemed to do the trick and not collapse the audio hole on my side. My only other issue is that none of the sounds are very loud. I would like the volume to be a bit louder than it is now even though I have it up as high as it can go. ... View more

It doesn't really matter how they are oriented in the ear canal since the design limits ways to orient them and they fit well. I guess if you have a deeper and wider ear canal the audio hole won't collapse, but for regular or small ears it does. I may have the solution. I found some jewelry jump rings. I put one under the collar and it keeps the sound hole open. So far it doesn’t collapse when I press on it and the hol e stays open.  ... View more

I use a memory foam pillow so I can’t create a depression unfortunately. I am so happy that someone else has this issue and maybe we can find a solution. I like your idea of firming up the area around the audio hole!  I wonder if that would make them uncomfortable in the ear though. Being so soft and pliable is key to why they are comfortable. I can’t image that R and D didn’t know of this issue before. I am thinking maybe a tiny rubber or silicone O ring? Glue? Please let me know if you find a solution and I will do the same.  ... Tony,  Apparently the sound hole cannot be enlarged since there is mesh inside. So my plan to try that is a no go. To whom might I contact to suggest enlarging the hole or making them more sturdy so that they don’t collapse? ... View more

Hi Tony, The audio/sound hole is exactly the same size on all three different sizes of ear tips so if it closes up on one, the same thing would happen on the others. I tried each as you suggested anyway, but the issue is the same as I predicted. It even happens if I just gently press on the center part of the apparatus while it is in my ear, and the sound stops.  The only thing I can think of is to cut the hole larger. ... View more
